James Buckner Ryan was born 24 June 1838 in Bath County, Kentucky. He was the son of Moses Ryan and Dulcinea Payne. James joined the Confederate Army in 1861 and served with General John Hunt Morgan until the end of the conflict. He married Isabela D. Bowling in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. They lived in Kentucky and had four known children. James died 1906 in Kentucky. Descendants lived primarily in Kentucky.

Joseph Wood was born 1771 or 1774 in South Carolina. He is believed to be the son of John Wood who lived in Buncombe Co., North Carolina. Joseph was living in Kentucky and married Elizabeth Keith in 1798 and Elizabeth Hunsaker in 1823. He lived with his family in Edgar Co., Illinois before making a final move to Sullivan Co., Missouri. Descendants lived primarily in Kentucky and Elsewhere.

Andrew McCellan and his wife Sarah (surnamed Porter or Ursley) came from Tennessee and settled in Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky prior to 1850. He became a soldier in Company B of the 11th Kentucky Infantry. They were the parents of at least six known children. Andrew is buried near Carter Creek in Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky. John Woodford Matherly, the son of Daniel and Nancy Matherly, was born probably in Warren Co., Ky. or Sumner Co., Tennessee in 1829. In 1845 in Butler County, Ky. he married Mary Ann Jenkins, the daughter of Joel and Sarah (Sallie) Wood Jenkins. Mary Ann (Polly) was born 1828 in Butler Co., Ky. John died in 1894.
