Peter Barrackman was born ca. 1744 and was a member of a large family group who emigrated from the German Palatinate to the American Colonies. He served in the French and Indian Wars in Maryland in 1767. He married Elizabeth Antis in Virginia territory. She may had been his second wife. He was the father of at least ten children. Jacob Barrickman and John Barrickman, possibly brothers, lived in Jefferson County, Virginia before it became Jefferson County, Kentucky. Jacob (d.1782) died in Jefferson County before Kentucky became a state, and John moved to Morgantown, Virginia. Descendants of Jacob lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Tennesse, Texas and elsewhere.

Edmund Etchison (ca.1757-1845) moved from Maryland to Virginia as a young man, and married Edith Richardson in 1779. They moved to Rowan County, North Carolina about 1782, and he died in Davie County, North Carolina. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois and elsewhere.
