George Antis, Sr. and his family moved to Knox County, Indiana in the late 1790s. The family had earlier lived in New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Kentucky. Many Indiana descendants spelled the surname Anthis. Descendants lived in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and elsewhere.

George Antis, Sr., of German lineage, moved from New Jersey (via Maryland, Pennsylvania and Kentucky) to Knox County, Indiana in the 1790s. Some of his children and their families remained in Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Indiana descendants often spelled the surname Anthis. Peter Barrackman was born ca. 1744 and was a member of a large family group who emigrated from the German Palatinate to the American Colonies. Jacob Barrickman and John Barrickman, possibly brothers, lived in Jefferson County, Virginia before it became Jefferson County, Kentucky. Jacob (d.1782) died in Jefferson County before Kentucky became a state, and John moved to Morgantown, Virginia. Descendants of Jacob lived in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Tennesse, Texas and elsewhere.

Edmund Etchison (ca.1757-1845) moved from Maryland to Virginia as a young man, and married Edith Richardson in 1779. They moved to Rowan County, North Carolina about 1782, and he died in Davie County, North Carolina. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois and elsewhere.
