Lockwood Barr

James Smythe (1778-1820), of Scottish lineage, was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Smith of Belfast, Ireland. He immigrated to Philadelphia, moved to St. Mary's, Georgia, and married Mary Thorpe in 1803. His will was recorded in Woodbine, Camden County, Georgia. Descendants and relatives lived in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and elsewhere. Includes Thorpe ancestry in Georgia, Virginia and elsewhere to about 1700.

Lawrence Howorth was born 22 March 1769, perhaps in Virginia. He married Elizabeth Figg of Richmond, Virginia. They had five children. The family migrated to Kentucky and were living in Logan County, Kentucky by July 1806.
