In about 1600, members of the Vautrin family in Lorraine, with other Huguenots, were forced to flee to German Alsace. The name under German influence became Wotring. Peter Vautrin or Wotring (1640- 1713) was a miller at Hellering. He was an elder in the Reformed Church and was buried at Kirrberg. John Wolfensberger (ca. 1694-1760), son of Erhart Wolfensberger and Ursula Emm, married Ann Margaretha Ensminger (1697-1775), daughter of Philip Ensminger, Jr. and Elizabeth, in 1721. In 1730 they immigrated to Pennsylvania with their three sons, Peter, Frederick and John, and settled near relatives and friends in Lancaster County. William Crocker was born in Pennsylvania and was in Black Log Valley, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, ca. 1802. He later moved to Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania in 1842 where he died in 1855. His son, Joseph C. Crocker (1803-1873), married Sarah Davidson (1801-1871). Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, California, and elsewhere.
