Thomas Cheesman or Chesman (1640-1713), possibly a son of Ephraim Cheesman, immigrated from England to Hempstead, Long Island, New York in the 1660s. He married Mary Margaret Valentine. Vol. 1 contains biographical sketches of the Cheesman direct lineage of descendants, living in New York, New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, Washington and elsewhere. Includes Cheesman English ancestry and genealogical data to about 1066 A.D.

Farmers Institute was a Quaker community in Union Township. Although the community no longer survives officially, Farmers Institute Academy, and Farmers Institute Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends still function.
