John Crone was born in 1789 at York, Pennsylvania, the son of Jacob Crone. He married Elizabeth Pence (1794-1876) about 1812. They had seven children. He died near Lucas, Ohio in 1871. Descendants lived in Ohio, Indiana, Missouri and elsewhere. Includes the Switzer, Weaver, Steel and other allied families.

2) The Crone and allied families: from these families were descended John Switzer Crone (1849-1926) and Ella Marshall (Weaver) Crone (1854-1929)

Johannes Cron (John Crone), late resident of the Palatine, signed the oath of allegiance at Philadelphia, 19 Sept. 1738. He settled in York County, Pennsylvania. In a will made in 1756, he mentions his wife and children, John; Simon; Catherine; and Eva. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan and elsewhere.
