John Crowder, fourth son of William and Hannah Crowder, moved with his wife, Margaret Jaycocks, and family from Osnabruck Township in Stormont County to Haldimand Township, Northumberland County, Ontario in 1812. Their oldest son Francis was born ca. 1792. Descendants lived in Ontario, Wisconsin, Michigan, and elsewhere in Canada and the United States.

William Crowder (ca.1730-ca.1800) moved from Virginia to Kinderhook, New York, where he married Hannah Rous about 1748. He served with the British army during the French and Indian War, and also during the Revolutionary War, and in 1778 his family arrived seeking refuge to join him with the British forces near Kingston, Ontario. Description
A church was built at Canaan in 1841 for the Presbyterians of Horton and McNab townships. In 1847, a new Presbyterian Church was built in the village of Renfrew. In 1875, the Free Presbyterian Church united with the Horton-McNab Presbyterian Church. In 1883, a new church was built called St. Andrew's. In 1925, it became the Trinity-St. Andrew's United Church.
