Johann Nicholaus Heinrich Kress was born 12 May 1721 in Steinau on the Road, Heßen-Nassau, Germany. His parents were Johannes Peter Kress, Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Muller. He married Catherine Eberhardt in about 1755 in Pennsylvania. They had twelve children. He died in about 1783 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina, Illinois and Missouri.

Hans Johannes (Pheiffer) Phifer, son of Leonard Pheiffer and Brigetta Haner, was born 19 July 1685 in Bretzwill, Basel, Switzerland. He married Agnes Moschinger, daughter of Hans Moschinger and Agnes, in 1706 in Rumlingen, Switzerland. They had eleven children. He settled in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and married Anna Catherine (last name not known). Couple had nine children born to them between 1760 and 1776. Some children were born in Red Hill, Montgomery Co., Pa. and others in North Carolina. Descendants live in North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, California and elsewhere.
