Martin O'Clear was born in 1820 in Ireland. He married Mary Scully, who was born in 1823 in County Limerick, Ireland. They had eight children. They immigrated to the United States in about 1850 and settled in Iowa City, Iowa. Martin's siblings, Mark, Billy, Matt and Mary, also immigrated and settled in Iowa with their families. Descendants and relatives lived in Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Colorado and elsewhere.

William Heun (1820-1891) married Marie Bock in 1847 in the parish of Lahr, Germany. They emigrated in 1866 with eleven children; six children and the mother died on the voyage. William and the five sons lived in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, then in Shell Creek Station, Nebraska, when the town of Heun was founded. William married Mary B. Iler and had two children. William's brother, John, followed him to Wisconsin in 1869.

John Brady (1813-1900) was born in County Cavan, Ireland. He and his wife, Katherine (1822-1885), were married in Ireland and their first two children were born there. They had nine children, 1845-1866. there. The family immigrated to the United States in 1847 or 1848, and settled at Rochester, New York.
