Chiefly ancestors of the author's parents, George Nelson and Leota Victoria Wright Grant, with their family and many of the descendants of their ancestors. George Nelson Grant (1912-1960) was born at Toledo, Ohio, the son of Bernard Clinton Grant (1884-1939), a native of Canterbury, New Brunswick; and Florence Rachel Broadhurst Grant (1884-1945), a native of Pointe St. Charles, Quebec. William Wright married Esther and they had six known children. They lived in Amherst County, Virginia in the late 1700s. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Virginia, Alabama, Missouri and Louisiana.

William Greenberry Wright (1827-1907) was born in Bedford County, Virginia and moved at a young age to Ohio. In 1850 he married Louise Manker and they were the parents of eight children. He was in the 13th Ohio Cavalry during the Cival War and was wounded at Petersburg. After the death of his first wife, William married Martha Rebecca Judkins and they were the parents of eleven children.
