George Hales, son of Stephen Hales (1791-1846) and Mary Ann Hales (1799-1851), was born 30 October 1822 in Rainham, Kent, England. He married Sarah Ann Gregory (1823-1908) in Quincy, Illinois. They had ten children. He married Louisa Ann Eddins (1834-1906) in 1852 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had eleven children. He died in 1907 in Beaver, Utah.
