Marcus Lafayette Hasty was born in about 1790 in South Carolina. He married Nancy Barnett and they had two known sons. He married Nancy Arminda Jones 29 August 1830. They had five children. He died in 1862 in Jasper, Georgia. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Georgia.

They settled in Portsmouth and Rye, New Hampshire from 1721 to 1732 and later moved to Scarborough, Maine. In 1721 his wife's name was stated to be Mary (no surname listed). Daniel died in 1756 in Scarborough. Traces some descendants through eight generations.
