David Irwin, of Scottish lineage, married Margaret Berry in 1725, and they had a family of eight boys and three daughters. Six of the sons immigrated to the English colonies (chiefly Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia and Ohio). Richard Irwin (1740-ca.1812), one of the six sons, immigrated to New London, Chester County, Pennsylvania, and married Ann Steele in 1764.
