Mathew Martin (b.1823), the father of Thomas Alexander Martin, moved from South Carolina to Carroll County, Georgia, served with Georgia volunteers to the Confederacy during the Civil War, and moved before 1872 to Cleburne County, Alabama. Montez Ellen DeMonia was born in 1912 in Boaz, Alabama, the daughter of Samuel Cody DeMonia and Mary Emma Martin. Her grandmother was Lucinda Emmaline Burson DeMonia, daughter of James Cody Burson and Lucinda P. Darnell. Lucinda Demonia married Wm. Pinkney Demonia in 1870.
