John Loney (1748-1801) was a shoemaker in Johnstown, New York. His wife's name was Catherine (b. ca. 1749). They were married ca. 1767. John was an United Empire Loyalist and they immigrated to Canada ca. 1784 where they settled in "Indian lands, Charlottenburgh, Upper Canada" (later Ontario). Traces their descendants. .

Covers two family lines whose descendants settled in Glengarry County, Ontario (Upper Canada). The MacRae line begins with a Christopher MacRae who married Margaret MacDonald. They had a son Alexander. The first dates given are in the sixth generation with Farquhar MacRae who immigrated to Upper Canada in 1786. He married Catherine (Owna) MacDonald (ca. 1768-ca. 1826).
