Adriaan Van Herwijnen (1805-1883), a son of Aart Van Herwijnen and Eelke Verploegh, was born in the Netherlands. He married Johanna Cornelia Van Zandwijk (1817-1875), a daughter of Leendert Van Zandwijk, in 1841. They had ten children. The family immigrated to the United States in 1875, settling in Michigan, where many descendants live.
