John Barclay (ca. 1814-1888), son of John Barclay (1790-1864) of Perthshire, Scotland, and Mary Ross Pitcairn (1816-1911) were married at Dumbarton, Scotland, in 1838. They had six children, born in Scotland and Quebec, Canada. The family first immigrated to Canada with members of the Pitcairn family in 1842. They returned to Scotland in 1843, then returned to Canada, in 1859. Descendants lived mainly in Quebec, Ontario and Maine.

Almond Gushee was born 8 December 1773 in Raynham, Massachusetts. His parents were Abraham Gushee (1743-1775) and Sylvea Fobes (1749-1793). He married Nancy Robbins (1782-1853) 14 November 1799 in Union, Maine. They had fifteen children. Almond died in 1859.
