William Orr was born in Clare County, Ireland, probably in 1727 and came to America in 1763, settling in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He died in Kentucky at the age of 93. His descendant, William Vernon Orr, was born in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania in 1780, and died in 1875 in Lima, Adams County, Illinois.
