Shertorio de Toriano was christened in 1695 in Soglio, Switzerland. His parents were Peder Trailia de Turriani (1656-1733) and Maria Salis (1651-1743). He married Luna Gioanili, daughter of Johannis, Gioanili and Luna Ruinells. They had eight children. They emigrated from Switzerland to Virginia in 1738.
