Alexander Phoenix (fl.1643-1679), of Scottish lineage, immigrated in 1643 to New Amsterdam (now New York), and later moved to Wickford, Rhode Island. "The surname is supposed to be a corruption of Fenwick." (top center of pedigree chart). Descendants and relatives lived in New York, New England, New Jersey, Minnesota, South Carolina, Texas and elsewhere.
