Arthur Watkins was born 22 October 1864 in Provo, Utah. He was the son of John Watkins and Harriet Mollatt Steel. He married Emily Adelia Gerber 19 March 1886. She was the daughter of Johannes (John) Gerber and Anna Maria (Mary) Ackeret who were immigrants from Switzerland. Arthur and Emily lived in Utah and reared a family of five children.

Thomas John Edward Watkins was born 24 July 1803 in St. Ann, Soho, Westminster, London, England. He was the son of Thomas Watkins and Jane (Surname unknown). Thomas married Sarah Jordan ca. 1828 in England. Sarah was born in 1804 in Aylesford, Kent, England. Thomas and Sarah lived in Aylesford when he bacame a successful architect.
