Description
Samuel Stephens was born in 1801 in Russell County, Virginia. He married Florence Patton (b. 1800), daughter of James and Florence Graham Patton, in 1821 in Floyd County, Kentucky. They had fifteen children. Descendants listed lived in Kentucky, Ohio, and elsewhere.

Description
Samuel James (1774-1836) moved from Massachusetts to Ashe County, North Carolina, and married Sarah Charles. They moved to Johns Creek in eastern Kentucky. Among the direct descendants were Frank and Jesse James. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia and elsewhere.
