The earliest known ancestor, Henry Broadt/Bright (ca. 1772-1838), arrived in western Pennsylvania ca. 1797 presumably from Bedford, Pa. He was a Dunkard (similar to Mennonite faith) of German ancestry. He died in Harmonsburg, Pa. John Ewers, died 1769 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He married Bilhah (d. 1771) in 1730. He was baptized 1704 in St. Mary's Church, Burlington, New Jersey. Homer Edward Ewers (1866-1946) was born in Knox County, Ohio. He married Jennie Lou Walker (1871-1942) in 1889. They had ten children, all born in Ohio.

George Stillman lived in the Wiltshire village of Steeple Ashton and married Lady Jane Pickering. She is believed to have died at sea when they immigrated to the United States in 1683 or 1684. George settled in Hadley Massachusetts and married Rebecca Smith in 1686. He was the father of at least twelve known children and died 17 November 1788 in Wethersfield, Connecticut.
