Jacob Mc Lain (ca. 1755-ca. 1835) married Elizabeth Wilson (ca. 1773- after May 1835), a natve of Ireland, in Pennsylvania. They had six children, 1781-1801. The family lived in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, until ca. 1806 when they migrated to Muskingum County, Ohio. Jacob and Elizabeth Mc Lain both died in Muskingum County. Descendants listed lived in Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, California, and elsewhere.

Nicholas Kiser (1705-ca. 1775) was born in the Palatine, Germany. He and his wife, Anna Margaret, were married in the Palatine, ca. 1725. They had five children. Nicholas and Anna Margaret and their oldest child immigrated to America in 1727 and settled in Macungie Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Their son, Johann Peter Keiser (1726-1804), married twice and was the father of six children, 1752-1775. He died in Macungie Township. Descendants...

Peter Tallman (1623-1708) was born at Hamburg, Germany, the son of Peter Talemann/Taelmann (1589-1622) and the great grandson of Michiel Taleman (b. ca. 1520) of Gent, East Flanders, Belguim. He immigrated to the Barbados in 1647 and married Ann Hill there ca. 1649. They immigrated to Connecticut, ca. 1650. Peter and Ann Tallman had eight children, ca. 1651-1665. Johannes Henry Mertz was born in Germany about 1708. He came to America about 1737 and settled in Berks co., Pennsylvania. He married Anna Maria Rossman and they had eleven children. After Johannes death in about 1790 his family felt the need to travel west and have settled throughout the country. Many of them are sketched in these two volumes.

The emigrant ancestor, William Emerson, was a merchant from England and landed in Virginia in 1618 on the ship Sampson. William Emerson, Sr. (b. ca. 1710) was born in or at least lived in Virginia where his three sons were born, and later removed to Fayette Co., Kentucky.
