James Taylor

Benjamin Munn/Mun (d.1675) emigrated before 1637. He was a resident of Hartford, Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts. He married Abigail (Burt) Ball, the widow of Francis Ball and daughter of Henry Burt in 1649. He was the father of Abigail, John, Benjamin, James and Nathaniel. His son John married Abigail Parsons in 1680. His grandson Benjamin, settled at Deerfield, Mass. His son James was one of the original grantees of Colchester, Conn....

John Montgomery (1797-1866) moved from North Carolina to St. Charles County, Missouri, and married twice. Descendants lived in Missouri, Illinois, South Carolina, Texas, Montana, Washington and elsewhere.

James Cyrus Taylor (1809-1888),the son of John and Nancy Cunningham Taylor of Rockbridge Co., Virginia, married 1) Elizabeth Baskett and 2) Elizabeth G. Reid (b.1821). He settled in Shelby County, Kentucky and Lincoln County, Missouri. Several generations of descendants are given.

Henry Turney was born in Maryland in 1753 and later lived in North Carolina and Davidson and Smith counties, Tennessee. His descendants lived in Tennessee and elsewhere. Henry family is traced to Samuel Henry who lived in North Carolina in 1778 and later Tennessee. Francis family is traced to James Francis who was living in Lunenburg County, Virginia in 1750.

The ancestor of the Scotts of Buccleuch was a Richard Scott (ca. 1290) of Rankleburn and Murthockstone. For generations, the Scotts of Buccleuch were well known for creating powerful alliances among other Scottish families as well as conductiing border raids into England. Descendants eventually became the Earls and later Dukes of Buccleuch.
