Thomas Mackay (1810-1880) of Ireland and his wife, Ann Rodgers, immigrated to the United States in 1842 after their baptism in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, settling in Nauvoo, Illinois. After the expulsion of the Latter-day Saints from Illinois in 1846, Thomas and Ann were among the first settlers in the Great Salt Lake Valley in 1847.
