Thomas J Hines was born in South Carolina about 1800, married Mary Moores in July of 1826 in Fayettesville, Tennessee and after several years moved into Texas. Most of the family remained in the Texas. Includes some ancestors of Mary Moores.

Henry True (d.1659) immigrated from England to Salem, Massachusetts, and married Israel(?) Pike in 1642/1644, moving in 1657 to Salisbury, Massachusetts. Charles Sumner True (1857-1937), direct descendant, moved from Salisbury, Massachusetts to Mason County, Texas, married Margaret Ann (Maggie) Wade in 1889, and settled near Austin, Texas. Henry True (d. 1659) was a ship's captain who came from England and lived in Salem and Salisbury, Massachusetts. He married Israel Pike and they had seven children. Information about many of their descendants and their experiences as they settled the west is given in this volume. Descendants live throughout the United States but those who settled in the southwest are given more coverage in this history.

The True family traces its line back to Salisbury, Massachusetts in 1657 where they stayed until 1728 when Joseph True moved to New Hampshire. His descendants moved on to Vermont and later many of them moved west into Minnesota about 1850. The descendants who come from Hosea, Lewis and Charles True the brothers who settled in Minnesota are part of this volume.

Thomas Polk was probably born in Maryland. By 1737 he had moved to South Carolina, where he had at least 5 children. A remnant of his descendants through his son Thomas are included in this material. These descendants now live in Texas, Iowa, Georgia, and elsewhere.

Description
Alexander McIntosh Watts was born in 1813 in Sumter County, South Carolina. His parents were Julius Alexander Watts (1769-1862) and Agnes Benson (1776-1871). He married Martha Dandridge Spann 24 September 1837. They had fourteen children. He died in Palestine, Anderson County, Texas in 1892. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Georgia, South Carolina and Texas.
