James William Flowers was born 28 May 1849 in Tennessee. His parents were Colby Flowers and Mary or Polly. He married Clarissa Matilda Sollis (1851-1896), daughter of Furney Sollis and Elizabeth Allen, in about 1867. They had twelve children. James died 4 April 1831 in Meeker, Oklahoma. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.
