Roger O'Hara (1814-1885) was born in Tubercurry, Sligo, Ireland. In 1844 Roger married Bridget Gilmore (1823-1901) and they eventually became the parents of six children. In 1847 they immigrated to America, settling in Brookfield, Massachusetts. Descendants live in Massachusetts, Vermont, New York and other parts of the United States.

Thomas Whelan (1837-1915) was the son of Thomas Phelan and Margaret Harrington. He was born in Doolis, Ballyporeen, Tipperary, Ireland. He married Bridget Connors. They had four children. Their son, Patrick, emigrated and settled in Springfiled, Massachusetts. Some descendants spell their name Whalen.
