George Kitson was born 27 August 1838 in Preble County, Ohio. His parents were John A. F. Kitson (1804-1886) and Magdalene Shroyer (1804-1866). He married Clarissa Pippinger (1842-1908), daughter of David B. Pippinger (1799-1875) and Clarissa Stewart, in 1860 in Elkhart County, Indiana. Ancestors and relatives lived mainly in Indiana, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Ontario, Germany and Holland.
