Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Steele, and related families descending from Richard Steele (1818-1881) and Mary Ann Reese (1823-1888). Richard was born in Stourbridge, England. He was a potter who lived and worked mainly in Burslem, Longport, Bristol, Shropshire, and Monmothshire, England. Both Richard and Mary Ann were converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in England, and immigrated to America. Mary Ann met and married Richard Steele in 1845 in Nauvoo, Illinois. They had seven children: Thomas Grafton, Moses Beckett, Mary Elizabeth, Richard Reese, William Henry, George Edward, and Sarah Ann. They moved from Nauvoo, Illinois to Winter Quarters, Nebraska for five years. in 1851, they crossed the plains with the Latter-day Saint pioneers, and settled in American Fork, Utah in 1852. Richard, Mary Ann, and at least three of their children were buried in the American Fork Cemetery. Their descendants also lived in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and elsewhere. Years covered are the early 1800's to the present.
