Johann Heinrich Knoch was born 19 August 1800 in Schrecksbach, Hessen, Germany. His parents were Hans Heinrich Knoch and Anna Elisabeth Faust. He married Katharina Hahn (1795-1855), daughter of Johann Georg Hahn and Anna Martha Schlitt, 23 January 1820 in Holzberg, Germany. They had nine children. They emigrated in 1839 and settled in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. By 1850 they were living in Elk Township, Monroe County, Ohio. Johann died 4 April 1873. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Missouri.
