"This cemetery was founded by Luman Hewes on part of his land which later became the infield at Balmora Racing Club, Inc. (Lincoln Fields) south of Crete. Some remains of the Hewes family were removed to the Crete Congregational Cemetery in Crete, Illinois. This cemetery no longer exists"--1st prelim. p.
