Description
John David Greer (1761-1842) served in the Revolutionary War, and in 1782 married Sarah Hunt at Edgefield District, South Carolina. They settled in Troupe County, Georgia. Nathaniel Hunt Greer (1802-1855), a son, married Ann Terry Roberts, and lived for a time in Alabama, moving in 1837 to Washington County, Texas. They became converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and moved to Salt Lake City in 1855. Thomas Lacy Greer (1826-1881), a son, served with the U.S. army in the Mexican War in Mexico City, and later moved to Yavapai County, Arizona. Americus Vespuccius Greer (1834-1897), another son, served with Texas troops during the Civil War, and in 1877 moved to Payson, Utah. Descendants lived in Texas, Arizona, Utah, California and elsewhere. Includes list of the officers of the Greer Family Organization, with headquarters at Long Beach, California. Also includes transcript of the diary of Americus Vespuccius Greer.
