Description
Periodical for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Towry (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England and Ireland. Some allied families came from England and Scotland, and immigrated to Connecticut and Massachusetts in the 1600s. Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of John Edward Towry and his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Cannon, and of John's brother, George Towery who married Lide or Lydia Ledford. Their children were born in the 1770s. Early Towrys settled in Connecticut, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia in the 1700s. During the 1800s, some settled in Mexico, and in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, the Indian Territory, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, the Oklahoma Territory, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah. Later descendants also lived in Africa, Australia, France, Germany, Lebanon, and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Washington D.C., Wyoming, and elsewhere. Some had Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, and other American Indiana bloodlines.
