Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Piatt (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, France, Germany, and Holland. Some were Huguenots. Some allied families came from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of Rene Piat, alias LaFleur, who married Elizabeth Sheffield. Other Christian names he was known by include Renatus, Regnier, and Renipiat. His surnames, LaFleur and Piatt also had many spelling variations. Piatt families settled in New Jersey and New York in the 1600's. In the 1700's, some settled in Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. During the 1800's, some moved to Nova Scotia (Canada), and to Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Washington. Later descendants also lived in Newfoundland (Canada), and in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Wisconsin, and elsewhere.
