Description
Joseph R. Rhodes was born 8 January 1824 in Wakefield, England and died 11 February 1892 in Griggsville, Illinois. His parents were William Rhodes (1774-1845) and Sarah Burton. He married Martha Whitfield, daughter of James Whitfield and Mary Ann Stansfield, in England. Martha was born 10 July 1822 in Wakefield, England and died in Griggsville, Illinois 8 June 1910. They immigrated to America in 1848 landing first in Canada, then moving to New Hampshire and later to Vermont. They moved to Pike County, Illinois in 1856. They had nine children. Ancestors, relatives and descendants lived mainly in England, Illinois, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Oklahoma and California.
