Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history about Barney (and variant spellings) families who came from Belgium, England, Flanders, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Prussia, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Wales. Some related families also came from Poland. Some lines are traced back to William the Conqueror's time. In the 1600-1700s, their ancestors immigrated to Quebec (Canada), Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia. Jacob Barney Sr. was one such ancestor. He was the son of yeoman Edward Barney (d. 1643) of Bradenham, Buckinghamshire, England. Jacob came to America with the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and settled in Salem, Massachusetts ca.1630. During the 1800s, Barneys moved to New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island (Canada), Mexico, and to Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and the Wyoming Territory. Later descendants also lived in British Columbia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan (Canada), Australia, Colombia (South America), England, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom, Viet Nam, and in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, West Virginia, and elsewhere. Some have African American bloodlines. Includes information on adoptions. Census extracts give all members of Barney households, related or not. Information is taken from family histories, obituaries, other published works, shared research, and elsewhere. Years covered are ca. 1630 to the present.
