Description
Periodical for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the descendants of Robert Edwards, who supposedly purchased a tract of land on Manhattan Island, and in 1778 leased it for 99 years to John and George Cruger. The Cruger brothers, allegedly leased the land to the Trinity Church. The land also contained the Woolworth Building and the Western Union building. Apparently various family organizations were created to collect money to legally regain the land for the heirs of Robert Edwards. At least one such attempt reached the New York Supreme Court, which dismissed the claim. One of the supplements in this bound volumes contains records of similar Edwards "heir" trials in 1895, 1902, 1914 and more recently in 1953. The periodical includes much Edwards genealogy and family lineage information, including some in Canada.
