Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Keep family, primarily those who descend from John Keep, who settled in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts in 1660. The town was also known by the local indians as "Masacksic," meaning "the long meddowe." Springfield was later called Longmeadow. John and his wife, Sarah had four children: Sarah, Hannah, Samuel, and Jabez. John and his wife, Sarah and their infant son, Jabez were killed in 1676. Their surviving children grew up and raised families in the Longmeadow. Many descendants remained in Longmeadow, and in nearby areas, like Monson, Massachusetts. Some orphans and adoptions are mentioned.
Issuing Body
The Keep Family Society was organized at a Keep family meeting in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1984 by Oscar J. Keep III. The Society was established for descendants of John Keep of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, with the purpose of recording and perpetuating history and genealogy of John Keep, his descendants, and their related families.
