Description
"I propose to study the demographic and economic conditions of the city of Philadelphia and, in particular, of its laboring people during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The demographic study will be based on the birth, marriage, and death registers of several Philadelphia churches, the city's bills of mortality, the vital statistics recorded by Doctor Thomas C. James during the early nineteenth-century, and the passenger arrival lists contained in the maritime records of the port of Philadelphia"--Description of proposed study.
