Notes

General Note
An earlier supplement, comprising the children and grandchildren of General Henry R. Brinkerhoff, was published in 1892. The present supplement adds "another generation of the family (the ninth) and a brief sketch of the leading figures of this branch of the family, viz, General Henry R. Brinkerhoff and Sarah Swartwout, his wife." (Cf. author's apology on p. [4]).
Description
Henry Roelifsen Brinkerhoff (1787-1844), direct descendant in the sixth generation of Joris Dircksen Brinkerhoff, was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania. He married Sarah Swartwout in 1814, and settled in Owasco, Cayuga County, New York, serving in the state legislature. In 1838 they moved to Huron County, Ohio, and in 1844 he was elected to the federal legislature in Washington, D.C. (he died before taking his seat). Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, California and elsewhere.
