Description
The index or "catalogue" contains all wills and administrations which appear in the Madras Wills, Bengal Wills, and Bombay Wills series. Other series are also indexed but the G.S. library does not have the records. Within these records, which are Mayor's Court records, are other proceedings besides probate records. These are not indexed in this "catalogue". The "catalogue" is also known as the Home Series Miscellaneous 792.
Description
The Bengal Presidency covered most of present-day states of Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, and at times the Punjab in India and Pakistan, and most of northern India. The Madras Presidency covered most of the states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The Bombay Presidency covered most of the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra in India and the Sind in Pakistan.
