Caldwell Ragan, son of George Washington Ragan (1846-1936) and Bettie Gibson Caldwell (1871-1947), was born in 1898 in Gastonia, North Carolina. He married Jocelyn SIkes (1902-1988), daughter of Vann Sikes and Alice Parker, in 1928. They had four children.
