He lived in various places, such as: Boston, Massachusetts; Dover, New Hampshire; Stamford, Connecticut; New Amsterdam; and Long Island, New York. In 1783, some of his Loyalist descendants were moved from Westchester, New York to New Brunswick (Canada). Other Underhill ancestors came from England to settle in Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Issuing Body
The Underhill Society of America was founded in 1892 in Brooklyn, New York by David Harris and other members of the Underhill Society of North America. A special part of the Society is known as the Underhill Society of America Education and Publishing Fund, which is responsible for all their publications. A constitution was adopted in 1899, and was revised in 1957, 1973, and 1991. It was incorporated in New York State in 1903. Annual meetings were held every year since its founding, except for a brief hiatus in the 1940s. The Society published an Annual Report from 1893 through 1937, an annual historical Bulletin since 1954, and a semi-annual newsletter, "News and Views", since 1970. Myron C. Taylor (1874-1959) sponsored the research and publication of many books for the Society, erected Underhill memorial tablets, led the revitalization of the Society in 1950, and ensured the preservation of the Underhill Burying Ground. He also made possible the 1962 creation of the Education and Publishing Fund by the Society. Additional information is found on their Web site.
