Description
John Adams emigrated from County Cavan, Ulster (Ireland) to Wilkes County, North Carolina, about 1755. His family migrated to Johnston County, North Carolina in 1799, then to South Carolina, to Georgia, and finally settled in Barbour County, Alabama, in 1849. John's ancestry traced back to Duncan II, King of Scots. His descendants through Jesse Allen Adams (1791-1855) and Elizabeth Bryant lived mainly in Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Virginia and elsewhere in the United States.
