Description
"This collection contains more than 3,000 names pertaining to the ancestry of Paulette Odette POUDRAS, born 13 Apr 1925 in Reims (Marne), France, died in France on a research trip, about 2003, without descendants. The collection represents more than 50 years of Paulettes research, accomplished by saving parts of her salary, then traveling back to France every summer to search in records which were not available in the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Many additional hours have since been spent trying to organize the collection into a more useable form for those who want to research these valuable files. It is possible that some of the information found in these files has been entered into the electronic databases found at www.familysearch.org No attempts were made to verify that, however. This collection has been arranged and filmed / digitized as follows: 1) Large 12 Generation Pedigree Charts (1) 2) Large 9 Generation Pedigree Chart (1) 3) Individual Pedigree Charts (Legal size - 8 ½ X 14). These are in numerical order, 1-17. There may be several charts with the same number. It is advisable to look at each chart, as one may contain a piece of information another does not. 4) Family Group Sheets (legal size sheets - 8 ½ X 14). These appear to be the "finished product" of research notes and information found on the "rough work sheets" mentioned below. They are in strict alphabetical order by surname, first name(s), then birth date or earliest life event date found for the husband or single mother. If a note of any kind was attached to the family sheet, it was taped onto the front or back of the family sheet. Great care was taken that NO INFORMATION on a sheet was ever covered over. Information found on the backs of notes was photocopied and taped to the front or back of the family sheet. Where notes were written or taped on the back of the family sheet, the yellow hi-lighted word "Over" appears with an arrow in the lower right corner.
Description
continued: The filming / digitization process should pick up all the information on both the front and back of the sheet. Some family sheets may appear in this "rough work file" only, instead of there being a seemingly completed or finished sheet for the family in the "long" family group sheet file mentioned above. There may also be pages in the "long sheet" file for which no corresponding "work sheet" can be found. It is strongly advised that both family group sheet sections be thoroughly searched for the desired surnames and all possible variants. 6) Research Notes. These were found scattered throughout the files. To the extent possible they were grouped by surname, then filed alphabetically. Some research note sheets contain more than one family name. In that instance, the sheets were filed alphabetically where the majority surname fell. 7) Miscellaneous notes: These are post-it-notes, ½ sheets, scraps of paper found throughout the collection. To the extent possible, these were alphabetized by the first surname on the note, then taped in that order to standard sized sheets of paper. If there was a note or comment on the back of any of these sheets, that was copied and pasted also. Every effort was made to insure NO piece of information was lost or covered over in any manner. 8) Sheet listing surname distribution throughout France. 9) Research notes by parish.
