Description
Charles Cordier (ca.1813-1848?) was a son of widow Theresa Anchly (who married François Cordier), and Charles took the surname of his step-father. Charles immigrated from France to Stark County, Ohio in 1832/1833, and married Frances (Françoise) Frantz in 1835. He purchased and was running an oil well some distance from home, and when he did not return in 1848 from one of his frequent trips there, the family feared he had been murdered for the considerable amount of gold he would have been carrying on the way home. Descendants and relatives lived in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and elsewhere. Includes ancestry of these descendants and relatives back to the early 1600s, living in New England, New York and elsewhere.
