Vol. 20 (Aug 1991) and vol. 21 (Aug 1992) were supplementary issues to vols. 20-21. The extra issues were discontinued after vol. 21 (Aug 1992). Vol. 24 nos. 2-4 were never published.

Vol. 18 no. 1 fall (Sept 1989) was misnumbered as vol. 19 no. 1. Vol. 24 no. 1 (fall 1995/1996) was followed by vol. 25 no. 1 (winter 1996).
Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Bean (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England and Scotland. Some settled in Virginia ca. 1660. In the 1700s, some settled in Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vermont. One ancestor was Baxter Bean (born ca. 1790) and his family who were reknowned gunmakers. During the 1800s, some moved to Alabama, Arkansas, California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Some married members of the Chickasaw, Cherokee, and Choctaw Indian tribes who lived in the Indian Territories of Arkansas and Oklahoma. Later descendants also lived in Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma, Utah, and elsewhere. Some Beans' wills contain the names of their African American slaves.

The Southern Bean Association was organized at Irving, Texas in 1972. The Association is also referred to as the Southern Beans or the Southern Bean Family Association. For table of contents for volumes 1-4, memberships, and other information see their Web site.
