Notes

General Note
This is a history of the Ebenezer Church from 1890-1940.Members of the congregation decided to build a new church. Work on the new building was started in the spring of 1890 and completed in the fall of the same year. Members of the church council and building committee are listed in the introduction, along with names of ordained ministers and names of men who led the people in worship, but were not ordained ministers. Names of Reformed and Lutheran pastors and men who led the congregation in worship from the year 1740 until 1935 appear in these first few pages. Among them are Andrew Steiger, Peter Miller, Reverend Nevin William A. Helffrich, Reverend George M. Smith and Reverend Henry S. Fegley. Names of teachers who served over ten years, notably Mr. John M. Weiss, who received the State Sunday School medal for 50 years of service in the Sunday School. Names of organists and leaders of the various organizations are listed. Listings of names of persons baptized, confirmed, and married appear, followed by listings of deaths. Fiftieth anniversary and re-dedication services on October 27, 1940 are found in the last four pages of the book.
